How much does new flooring or a staircase cost?

Every project is quoted individually after a free in-home visit. Your written quote itemizes materials and labour, and the price we quote is the price you pay, with no surprises when the invoice arrives.

Do you offer a senior discount?

Yes. Alexander works a senior discount into the quote himself, sized to the job rather than fixed at a flat rate. Mention it when you call or when he comes out to measure, and it will already be reflected in the written price you receive.

How long does a typical installation take?

Most single rooms are finished in one to two days and whole-home flooring in three to five. A staircase takes five to seven business days, depending on the shape of the staircase. We confirm the timeline in your quote and keep you posted throughout.

Can you change the colour of my existing stairs or floors?

Stairs, yes. We sand an existing staircase back to bare wood, stain it to the colour you choose and seal it, which also takes care of worn treads and tired finishes without replacing anything. Whatever colour your staircase is now, we can match it to a custom colour in about 95% of cases. Refinishing existing floors is a separate trade and not something we take on, but we install new flooring of any type except tile.

Do you supply the materials, or can I buy my own?

Either works. We can supply hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank and stair components at trade pricing with honest recommendations for your rooms and budget, or install materials you have already purchased.

Do you remove and dispose of the old flooring?

Yes. Removal, subfloor prep and disposal of the old flooring can all be included in your quote, and we tidy the job site at the end of every day so your home stays livable during the work.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Tricity Flooring and Stairs is fully licensed and insured, and Alexander has been installing floors and staircases in Canada since 2005 — more than twenty years in the trade, now carried under the Tricity home improvement name.
